COOEC Completes the Main Structure of Haiji-2

Date:2023-11-24

On November 21, Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. ("COOEC") completed the construction of the Haiji-2 deepwater jacket as its EPCI contractor in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, setting two Asian records for height and weight at one stroke.

Haiji-2 has a total height of 338 meters and a weight of 37,000 metric tons, which is close to the limits of the load bearing of the construction site and the bearing capacity of the lifting equipment in China. The project has firstly used S420 high-strength steel in large quantities during the construction of jacket platforms in China, significantly reduceing the total weight of the structure while improving the strength. COOEC has solved technical difficulties such as independent design of such an ultra-large deepwater jacket, coordinated lifting of ultra-large tonnage structures, and independent development of high-strength steel welding processes. COOEC is now a leader in Asia in the design and construction technology for jacket platforms above 300 meters in depth.

Once completed, the Haiji-2 jacket platform will become the highest offshore oil and gas production platform in Asia, and will be used for the secondary development of the Liuhua 11-1 and Liuhua 4-1 oilfields with reserves of over 100 million metric tons in the sea area which is about 220 kilometers to the southeast of Hong Kong and has a depth of about 325 meters.
