This chapter explores that legacy through the relation between critical philosophy and world politics. Its focus, which is on Derrida’s work where it prolongs the tradition of ‘critical philosophy’, produces an ambivalence: respect for the manner in which he prolongs Enlightenment thinking, but distance towards the way in which he ultimately relates philosophy to current objects of society.
